Vale Carlo Manera

It is with sadness that the PSWA Board report to members that Mr Carlo Manera passed away last week. Carlo was a Councillor of the Pharmaceutical Council of WA from 1978 until 1983 and was a great contributor to pharmacy in WA.

Carlo studied pharmacy at the Perth Technical College and was awarded the prestigious Webster Gold Medal in 1957 for his academic achievements. Carlo was well known to have supported other students through their studies and a number owe their academic success to his assistance. Carlo continued to support emerging pharmacists as a mentor and preceptor at his Wembley pharmacy.

Carlo was the quintessential neighbourhood pharmacist who knew his customers by name and provided them with exceptional care through his committed customer service and passion for pharmacy and primary care.

Carlo was a founding partner of local pharmaceutical manufacturing company Delta West, which was later purchased by Upjohn.

In recent years Carlo has been a regular at the PSWA member morning teas. It was always a pleasure to see his smiling face and see him continuing to inspire young pharmacists. His presence will be greatly missed.

The Board, on behalf of the Society extends its condolences to wife Lorraine, sons Brad and David and their families.
