The Pharmacy Bill was drafted by the PSWA in 1893
At the second meeting of the Pharmaceutical Society of Western Australia on 15 December 1892, a Legal Committee was formed for the purpose of drawing up a Pharmacy Bill for presentation to parliament. Western Australia was unique to the other states in modelling the legislation governing the Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain. This resulted in the governing committee of the Pharmaceutical Society functioning as a Board and a Council.
The Pharmacy Act was eventually passed in parliament and came into operation on the 1st of March 1895. By act of parliament, from 1st March 1895, the Pharmaceutical Society and its Council received statutory recognition.
