PSWA Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) information for pharmacists

The Pharmaceutical Society of Western Australia (PSWA) recognises the challenges presented to the pharmacy profession during the rapidly changing coronavirus disease pandemic.  PSWA acknowledges and supports the dedicated work of pharmacists through this difficult time. 

Support services 

Pharmacists’ Support Services is an industry supported organisation that provides a listening ear over the telephone to pharmacists, pharmacy interns and students or family, friends and pharmacy staff who are concerned about a pharmacist.  Volunteers who take the calls are all pharmacists and are trained in the crisis model of telephone counselling to support their colleagues.  Callers are able to remain anonymous to enhance confidentiality.  

The focus of the service is support, empowerment and information provision rather than advice. Volunteers are equipped with information and resources to assist with referring callers when necessary. The Service is available on 1300 244 910 every day of the year from 6.00am to 9.00pm WST.

The Western Australian Government Department of Health works closely with the Commonwealth and other state and territory jurisdictional governments to appropriately respond to the coronavirus pandemic. Updated information is provided through the WA Health department coronavirus website and the Australian Government website  

Matters relating to national pharmacist registration are managed by Ahpra for the Pharmacy Board of Australia. Current information relating to changes as a result of coronavirus, including for pharmacists, pharmacy interns and preceptors are available from the Pharmacy Board of Australia website.
